What? Ariel Pink
Ariel Pink headlines this Upset The Rhythm night at one of my favourite venues in London, The Luminaire in Kilburn. Ariel Pink has been producing wonky self recorded bedroom pop in his bedroom for years now but he’s been receiving a lot more attention of late with his album ‘Worn Copy’, released under the Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti moniker, earning him a place in Amazon’s top 100 indie albums of all time list.
For Fans Of: Animal Collective, Panda Bear, The Flaming Lips.
Support comes from a teaming up of New York noise artist Prurient & the altogether more poppy Cold Cave of Pennsylvania, Ô Paon and Holloys.
It’s Holloys that I’m particularly excited to see after recently acquiring their fantastic ‘Art Wars’ EP, an enthralling and danceable noise which Rough Trade describes as “beat-heavy blend of trance, dance, afropop polyrhythm, neo-prog, electronica and soaring pop melodies”. Be sure to get their early to catch them.
