crystal stilts

What? Crystal Stilts are a cool as fuck Brooklyn guitar band who play reverb heavy dark disco/surf tunes with a foot in the past but their hearts and heads pointed firmly forwards. Whatever the hell that means! Dark, danceable, sexy tunes well performed and with the ice cool delivery of front man Brad Hargett. They made one of the best albums of 2008 with their debut ‘Alight The Night’. They impressed me at The Windmill in Brixton last year.

For Fans Of: Joy Division, Deerhunter, The Jesus And Mary Chain.

Support comes from Christchurch, New Zealand easy going rockers The Bats and UK indie rockers Comet Gain who sopund like they have a bit of a Long Blondes vibe going on. Nowt bad.

Lissy Trullie @ ICA, June 8th.

lissy-trullie-3

What? Lissy Trullie

Fashionable New Yorker Lissy Trullie leads a four-piece band who play clean riffed, danceable guitar rock. A little bit post punk, a little bit not. Lissy’s voice sometimes has shades of Nico, while her looks have more resemblance to Kate Moss. The band’s independently released first EP has been turning heads and I can see why as it’s full of accomplished song writing and it’s catchy as hell in a Libertines first album meets The Strokes kind of way.

For Fans Of: The Libertines, The Strokes, Television.

When? Monday, June 8th.

Where? ICA, Pall Mall.

How Much? £8

Tickets? ICA
