Grizzly Bear @ Koko, Aug 18th.

What? Grizzly Bear

Grizzly Bear are one of my favourite bands in the World. They are one of the most talked/blogged/written about and thus one would hope listened to bands in the World. It’s no surprise that they come from Brooklyn but unlike many they’ve earned their indie crown with two albums already in the bag. the most notable being 2006′ ‘Yellow House’ which propelled them onto the bigger level at which they now stand. Since then they’ve had appearances on Letterman and have made fans of everyone from The National to Radiohead who they have opened for. Their soon due third album, the long awaited ‘Veckatimest’ is one of the most anticipated records of the year. Oh and they are a truly excellent live band. What is their sound? Hard to define but ranging from experimental slow, building walls of guitar and atmospheric chamber pop to blissed out Beatles-esque psychedelia, always with beautiful vocal harmonies. There are no fewer than three great voices to be heard.

For Fans Of: Animal Collective, Dirty Projectors, Deerhunter, Fleet Foxes.
